Twenty-Four

What if your doctor just told you, "You have 24 hours to live"? How many of you would be worried about the football or basketball game that is on tonight? Would you desperately need to turn on your favorite soap opera? What outfit would you be 'dying' to buy? What car would you HAVE to ride in? You see the things we "live" for, are not worth living for. In your final moments of life, would you really call some secular artist to come sing for you? Would you want some client to come sit with you? For most of us, we would want to be with our friends and family, and most of the things mentioned above would not be included in our final wishes. The thing is though, none of us are promised tomorrow. It is sad that so many people spend their lives building up for something they never get to see, or experience. There is a popular song right now "Live like we're dying", the lyrics are so true "We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to Turn it all around or to throw it all away". The time we have is right now, so if you got a dream, you better chase it. If you have a fear, then you need to face. If you love someone, tell them. Whether we go in the Rapture, or we go by way of the grave. We have a day we will depart from this world. Don't waste your life LIVE IT! I've never seen the show 24, but apparently it is suppose to be in "real time" each episode reflects one full day. So if your life was being filmed, what we see, today is all we got, tomorrow never gets here. An average american spends 8 months of his/her life opening junk mail, almost an entire year at a stop light, 9 YEARS glued to a Television set, and an average of less than 3 months praying . . . WOW! This is sad! Today is a gift, time you will never be able to get back. LIVE TODAY AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST!

Luke 12:16-23
And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17and he thought to himself,'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' 18And he said, 'I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' 20But God said to him,'Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' 21So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God."
22And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

What NOT To Wear

I am a fan of the TLC show "What NOT to Wear", but for those of you who are not familar with it, it is a reality show. Someone is nominated, usually by a friend or family member, because of their lack of fashion. They are video taped and then brought to New York, where they will get to look at themselves in the 360degree mirror. After that they will be given $5,000 to get a completely new wardrobe! It's exciting (especially for us women) to see a makeover, a change, a transformation. I get excited for the people on the show as you watch them transform. The hosts of the show give the nominee guidlines on what NOT and what TO wear!
This reminds me of scripture . . . Colossians 3:3-14 talks about the same guidlines on "What NOT to Wear" and also gives us guidance for what TO wear. Just like mini skirts don't flatter anyone, neither does anger or rage. It's not a good idea to wear white after labor day, and it's not attractive to allow filthy language come from your mouth. Tight clothes are not classy and neither is one who committs fornication. It's not smart to wear boots in the summer time, and it's not smart to covet, or have idols of any kind. So, if you have any of that on, PLEASE don't wear it any more . . . it's def. "What NOT to Wear". However, just like black goes with anything, mercy & kindness is never out of style. You can't go wrong with adding some accessories, like a necklace, or scarf. The same goes for meekness, and longsuffering, and most importantly CHARITY (or Love).
I know this seems really girly, but no matter who you are, stop and examine, REALLY examine what you are wearing. It's time you go through your spiritual closet!

Thanks Mom

I would like to wish all the mothers a Happy Mother's Day! - As well as all those who are Spiritual Mothers - but most of all my Mother! My Mother is truly a Proverbs 31 Woman, she has great integrity, compassion, and a heart for not only her own children, but for people all around her. I am so grateful to have a mother like her. Our culture is so mixed up, we think giving birth to a child makes you a mother, but that is as absurd as saying if someone owns a piano, they are a musican. I just want to say THANK YOU MOM! Thanks for your correction, Thanks for your love, Thanks for your prayers, Thanks for your wisdom, Thanks for your teaching/training, Thanks for your forgiveness, Thanks for your Faith . . . which you have passed on to me, and many others! I challenge all you mothers to keep on keeping on, even if it doesn't seem like your children are "getting it" one day they will, never give up! And a second challenge to all those reading, whether it be your Mother, Grandmother, Spiritual Mother, or anyone who has had a big influence on your life, take time to let them know how much they have impacted your life, let them know they are loved, not just on Mother's Day but all year long!

Glory!

"How many of us have asked the Lord to cover the earth with His GLORY!?!?!?!" . . . that's what me, my sister, my neice, and my father hear my mother hollar from the back seat of the car while we were on a road trip to Missouri last month. We had been listening to the song "Cover the Earth with Your Glory" when she got a 'little' excited! We all kinda froze, then chuckled/grinned. I sorta half way thought about it, but let the thought pass as quickly as it came. Several times over the past few weeks have I just sort of shouted it out at random times to bring a smile to my families' faces, as we remember the little outburst in the car. It wasn't until riding home tonight, when the song "Show Me Your Glory" came on that it REALLY REALLY hit me. I've heard that song a million times, but it all came flying at me, a revelation I can't describe. It's His GLORY we need to be seeking, desiring, and declaring! So, I figure if I'm going to be asking the Lord to Cover the earth with something, I better know what exactly I'm asking . . . so I looked it up in the dictionary; GLORY - "resplendent beauty or magnificence". So in the words of my mother, "How many of us have asked the Lord to cover the earth with His GLORY!?!?!?!" Think about it . . . Have you asked the Lord to cover the earth with His beauty? Have you asked Him to cover this planet with His Magnificence? It should be the cry from every Christian's heart all across this land for the Lord to cover the earth with HIS beauty and magnificence. I want the Lord to show me His Glory, I want the maker of Heaven and Earth to reveal Himself to me. I want to know Him in ALL HIS GLORY! For where His Glory is, is where His presence is, and where His presence is, is where I want to be!!!!!
